For Parents & Caregivers

Your car seat check doesn't end when you drive away

Your car seat was installed correctly today, but your child keeps growing. Harness straps need moving, inserts come out, recline settings change, and one day your child outgrows the seat. My Car Seat Friend keeps track of all of it and sends you a friendly text or email when it's time to make a change.

Reminders made for YOUR seat and YOUR child

These aren't generic tips. Every reminder is based on the limits for your seat and your child's growth. We use official WHO and CDC growth charts to estimate when your child will reach each limit, so reminders arrive close to when you need them.

You'll hear from us when it's time to:

  • Check the harness: often while your baby is growing fast, then less often as they get older

  • Remove the infant insert once your baby reaches the seat's weight limit for it

  • Change the recline when your seat's manual calls for a new setting

  • Move the buckle to the next slot, with a short how-to video for your seat

  • Switch from lower anchors to the seat belt before your child goes over the lower anchor weight limit (only if your seat is installed with lower anchors)

  • Plan your next step as your child gets close to the rear-facing, forward-facing or booster limits

  • Get ready for a booster: a heads-up a couple of months before your child outgrows the harness

  • Register your seat with the manufacturer, with the link and your seat's model number and date of manufacture filled in for you, so you hear about recalls

  • Replace an expiring seat: a reminder about 90 days before your seat's expiration date

Every seat, every car, every caregiver

Mom's car, Dad's truck, Grandma's minivan: each seat gets its own reminders, based on that seat's manual. Reminders about a seat go to the people who drive that car. Co-parents, grandparents and other caregivers can each have their own login and choose whether to get texts.

Your family dashboard

Log in anytime to see your child's seats, open your seat's manual, and find videos and resources picked for your seat and brand. After a checkup, enter your child's new height and weight and we'll update the reminder timing.

Getting started

Your car seat technician can sign you up during your check, or you can sign up yourself with our "Let's Get Started!" form. Text reminders only go to caregivers who say yes to texts.
